Alpha Sigma Kappa Rush

History

In the late nineteenth century, sororities brought lasting bonds of friendship and sisterhood to women in the male-dominated universities. Through years of tradition, sororities continue to build support and foster lasting friendships. Each year, many college women make the decision to rush a sorority. After the completion of Rush, these women choose to dedicate themselves to a particular sisterhood in which they feel they belong.

While the ratios of women to men on college campuses have equalized, some disciplines are still predominately male. In the same spirit that many sororities were established, Alpha Sigma Kappa was founded to offer a unique system of support to women in male dominated technical majors. Alpha Sigma Kappa provides a common ground for academic and social growth for her sisters. Our sisterhood continues beyond college. Extending from coast to coast, our alumnae continue to benefit and contribute to our sisterhood.

Because joining a sorority is a lifelong commitment, finding the right sorority is important. Any woman deciding to rush should spend some time getting to know the sisters and researching the history, traditions, and values of a sorority. To assist you with your research, we have compiled information about our Sisterhood. If you have any further questions, or would like information on our next rush event, please contact us at rush@askbeta.org.

Questionnaire:

Now that you've found out about our Sorority, if you could take a few minutes we'd like to know a bit about you.

It helps to know that you're not alone in any kind of a struggle, that someone understands and may be able to guide you. It helps when there's a roomful of people around who are offering you a place to meet, on a regular basis, to study, to get to know each other, to have fun. It helps to know, that even if you've been working by yourself on homework, because that's how you work best, or even if you've decided that a club meeting or going to the store tonight takes precedence over studying, you know that a lot of people with similar interests are gathered in a certain place and can be reached if you need them.

After all, this is what we're all about.
